Directions from the Murrysville Municipal Building:

Take Sardis Road, driving past Sloan School and the Beckwith/Veterans Field entrance.  Just past the Beckwith/Veterans Field entrance, turn right on Crowfoot Road.  After approximately 1.1 mile, at the STOP sign, turn right on Hills Church Road.  After approximately .2 mile, at the STOP sign, turn left to continue on Hills Church Road.  After approximately 1.3 miles, at the STOP sign, turn left (at the T) on Wiestertown Road.  After approximately 1.3 miles, you will see the entrance to MCP on your left (just past Evans Road).  The soccer fields will be on your left as you drive up the main drive of MCP. Parking is available next to the fields.

Directions from Route 22 -- Cozy Inn Cut Off:

From Route 22, take Cozy Inn Cut Off (from Route 22 East, use jug handle).  At stop sign, bear right to stay on Old William Penn Highway.  Drive towards Export. After approximately 1 mile, at Universal Welding, turn left on Hills Church Road.  After approximately 1/4 mile, bear left at the stop sign to continue on Hills Church Road.  After approximately 1/4 mile, Hills Church Road becomes Wiestertown Road (stay straight).  After approximately 1-1/2 miles, you will see the entrance to MCP on your left (just past Evans Road).  The soccer fields will be on your left as you drive up the main drive of MCP. Parking is available next to the fields.

For Travel players:

From the parkway, merge onto Route 22 towards Murrysville.  Travel will be approximately 5.4 miles.  There will be 13 traffic lights. At the 13th traffic light (Walnut Hollow shopping plaza will be on your right and a Rite-Aid drug store will be on your left) make a left onto Cline Hollow Road.  Immediately, there will be STOP sign. Go straight.  After approximately 1.6 miles, at the STOP sign, turn left onto Hills Church Road.  After approximately .3 mile, Hills Church Road becomes Wiestertown Road (stay straight).  Continue approximately 1.4 miles, you will see the entrance to MCP on your left (just past Evans Road).  The soccer fields will be on your left as you drive up the main drive of MCP. Parking is available next to the fields.

For In-house players:

From Route 22W, make a right onto Sardis Road at McDonald's. From Route 22E, make a left onto Sardis Road. Travel approximately 2.8 miles (there will be two stop signs along the way – at both you will go straight). After going straight at the second stop sign, within a minute you will see Sloan Elementary School on your right and the Murrysville Municipal Building on your left. Immediately after passing both the Municipal Building entrance driveway and the library entrance driveway, you will make the next left into the parking lot. Beckwith Field is located on the left as you enter the parking lot entrance which is between Beckwith and Veterans fields. Please do not park in the Library parking lot.

For Travel players:

From the parkway, merge onto Route 22 towards Murrysville. Travel will be approximately 3.5 miles. At the 7th traffic light you will make a left (Wendy’s will be on your right) onto Old William Penn Highway. At the next traffic light, (less than .5 mile) you will make a left onto Sardis Road. Travel approximately 2.8 miles (there will be two stop signs along the way – at both you will go straight). Veteran's Field

Larry Mills Park - Plum

Larry Mills Park is located off of O’Block Road in Plum. The upper field is at the top of the park next to the concession stand.

From Route 22 East:

Take Route 22 East toward Murrysville from one of the following; Route 48 in Monroeville, the Parkway East (Route 376) or the PA Turnpike Exit 6. When on Route 22 East get in the right hand lane and after the second traffic light, follow the sign and get onto Route 286 (approximately 1 mile after accessing Route 22). At the third traffic light on Route 286 make a left turn onto New Texas Road. Make the first right at the top of the hill onto O’Block Road. Stay on O’Block Road proceeding through three stop signs and make a left at the sign for Larry Mills Park. Follow the road up the hill into the Park. At “Y” in the road bear LEFT and follow sign to the parking lot for soccer games. Road to the right is for HANDICAPPED and SENIOR CITIZENS only! And is the EMS access area to the fields in case of injury.

From Monroeville Penn Hall Fields:

1. Using Penn Hall as a starting location. Turn right out of parking lot onto Old Frankstown Rd.

2. Take 1st Left (Lindsey Lane)

3. At T-Intersection, turn right onto New Texas Road.

4. Take 1st Left onto O'Block Road.

5. Follow O'Block to T-Intersection, Turn Left (this is still called O'Block)

6. When O'Block bends to the right, you will see an entrance to Larry Mills Park (aka Paradise Park).

7. All games are played at the UPPER FIELD next to the concession stand at the top of the park.


Monroeville Park - U10 and U12 Fields

Monroeville Community Park is located in Monroeville along Tilbrook Road.

From the East

Take Route 22 westbound towards Monroeville. Go past the traffic light for Alpine Village, then turn left at the next traffic signal onto Northern Pike. These traffic signals are very close together. Follow Northern Pike up hill and over the Turnpike. Go straight through the traffic signal that crosses Route 48. At bottom of hill, turn left at the stop sign onto Pitcairn Road. At the first stop sign bear left up hill onto Tilbrook Road. Monroeville Community Park (West) Entrance is on the Right after second Stop Sign on Tilbrook. There is a second entrance after passing the Baptist church on the left, look for the entrance to Monroeville Community Park (West) on the Right. The 14 Fields are Numbered throughout the Park.

From the Turnpike

Take Monroeville exit (number 57) and stay to the left toward Monroeville, Route 22 West. At the first traffic signal turn left onto Route 48 South, also known as Mosside Boulevard. At the second light, turn right onto Northern Pike. At the bottom of the hill, turn left at the stop sign onto Pitcairn Road. At the first stop sign bear left up hill onto Tilbrook Road. Monroeville Community Park (West) Entrance is on the Right after second Stop Sign on Tilbrook. There is a second entrance after passing the Baptist church on the left, look for the entrance to Monroeville Community Park (West) on the Right. The 14 Fields are Numbered throughout the Park.

From the Parkway East

Take the Parkway East, I-376, eastbound to the Monroeville exit near the Turnpike (exit number 14A). This exits onto Route 48 South, also known as Mosside Boulevard. Stay on Route 48 South. At the third light, turn right onto Northern Pike. At the bottom of the hill, turn left at the stop sign onto Pitcairn Road. At the first stop sign bear left up hill onto Tilbrook Road. Home games are played at WILKINS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, WILKINS TOWNSHIP, PA. The field is behind the school.

From I-376 Eastbound:

Take exit 79B toward PA-130/Churchill

Turn left off the exit onto Churchill Road

Drive about 1.4 miles down Churchill Road. The school is on your left.

From I-376 Westbound:

Take exit 79B, on the LEFT, toward PA-130/Churchill

At the light turn left onto Beulah Road

At the first light turn left onto Churchill Road

Drive about 1.6 miles down Churchill Road. The school is on your left.

From US 30:

Follow US-30 / Ardmore Blvd until it reaches I-376, then enter 376 eastbound (toward Monroeville).

Take exit 79B toward PA-130/Churchill

MASA Parent Volunteer Jobs

MASA Soccer is a 100% volunteer organization.  Close to 300 children play in-house soccer, and approximately 150 play in the travel league.  For this large organization to continue to serve the community, every family must take responsibility for an aspect of its operation.  Below are descriptions of the volunteer positions.  Please realize that this organization exists for our children.  We hope you will offer as much of your time and expertise as possible!  If you have any questions, please contact a Board Member. 

BOARD MEMBER: There are various positions on the board which helps manage the activities of the club.  The positions are voluntary and the amount of work will vary depending on the position and how much effort that you want to make the club a successful organization.  These positions include: President, Vice President-In-House Program Director, Vice President-Travel Program Director, Vice President-Player Development, Secretary, Treasurer, In-house Travel Registrar, Travel Registrar, Referee Assignor, Field Director, and Equipment Director,.  The Board meets at least once a month, and could be more during the season.  Board positions are held for at least 2 years.  This is a great way to contribute significantly to the community and to continue the growth and success of the organization.  These positions require more than the minimum commitment to MASA!  

COACH: Conducts all team practices and games with help of Assistant Coach.  Skillful, gentle behavior toward children is required.  Soccer skills and knowledge desirable but not essential especially for younger players (i.e., up to 10 years of age).  MASA will pay for coaching instruction in full for both new an experienced coaches.  Coaches are encouraged to obtain the minimum coaching licenses needed for their age group.  This job takes from 30-50 hours a season.  Training/instruction will be offered.  This is a great way to share time with your child and contribute significantly to MASA!  

ASSISTANT COACH: Assists Head Coach as directed.  Attendance at all practices and games are expected.  Most coaches start as Assistants.  This job takes between 20-50 hours a season.  Training/instruction will be offered.  This is a great way to get learn the game, acquire some soccer skills, and to develop some knowledge in coaching children.   

AGE GROUP COORDINATOR: This job involves helping to run one part of the operation of the in-house Recreation League.  If you love what MASA stands for and would like to contribute more than the minimum requirement, this job is for you.  This job allows you to get more involved in the inner workings of the organization.  Age group coordinators are responsible for soliciting coaches, forming teams, creating in-house practice the game schedule and communicating with the Program Director and coaches.  Administrative and organizational skills are essential for the job as well as knowledge of computer (excel and email) and phone contact.  This job takes anywhere from 15-30 hours over each season with the most work being done the month before the season starts.

FIELD LINING COORDINATOR:  This job involves the coordination of all field lining activities for all the soccer fields.  You will coordinate from the list of volunteers a schedule for field lining, and communicate/coordinate with the Field Director and Equipment Director when any issues arise.  Knowledge of how to line the fields and how the paint carts work is essential.  Administrative and organizational skills are also necessary for the job (excel and email) as well as ability to check the fields on a weekly basis to ensure the lining has been completed.  This job takes anywhere from 10-15 hours over each season. 

FIELD LINING TEAM: This job involves working as part of a team (on one day/one hour) preparing the fields prior to the start of the season.  You will also be required to attend one or more sessions to line the fields before games begin.  Someone will be there to instruct you.  After the season starts, you will be scheduled by the field lining coordinator for re-lining a field (travel) or fields (in-house) before the start of games.  Re-ling can be done the day before the game, but not during games or practices.  This job takes 2-3 hours spilt between one weekend before the season starts and one weekend during the season.  You must be available to work on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings.  The coordinator of the job will schedule you at the beginning of the season and the number of days you will be scheduled during the season will depend on how many volunteers there are.   

GOAL SET-UP/TAKE-DOWN In-house Program: This job involves working as part of a team of 4 or 5 parents to assemble the goals before either the first U8 boys or U10 games.  There is also a need for a separate team to take them down after the last U6 game or U10 game that same day.  This job will take place at the same time your child plays.  This job takes approximately ½ hour each Saturday during the season.  The coordinator of the job will schedule you at the beginning of the season and the number of days you will be scheduled will depend on how many volunteers there are.   

REGISTRAR: This job involves receiving and processing the registrations for MASA soccer.  If you are a well organized, computer efficient person, then this is the job for you.  You work at your own pace.  Registration forms are checked for accuracy, processed, payments deposited, input into excel spreadsheets, divided into each particular age-group, and then passed onto the age-group coordinators (in-house program) or travel coaches (travel program).  It involves contacting parents and working extensively with the Age-Group Coordinators or Travel Coaches.  This job takes at least 40 hours prior to the start of the season and continues throughout the season.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR: This job is for the individual who loves contacting and meeting people.  A list of all the parents and their volunteer choices will be provided.  The volunteer coordinator will then contact the parents and assign them their duties.  This job is new this year and will primarily be done before the season starts.

TEAM PARENT: This job involves getting players e-mail address, preparing a team phone tree, preparing a schedule for parents to provide drinks and snacks (in-house only) after each game for the players, providing players with directions to away fields (travel only), and distributing uniforms at the beginning of the season.  This job takes 2–4 hours during the season.

UNIFORM COORDINATOR: This job involves ordering and distribution of the MASA soccer uniforms for both travel and in-house.  A list of children, divided into the appropriate age-groups will be provided to the coordinator who in turn will solicit the help of the uniform distribution volunteers to sort and package shirts to be distributed to each team’s coach in the various age-groups.  This job takes 3-6 hours and will be done before the season starts.

UNIFORM DISTRIBUTION: Assists the Uniform Coordinator as directed.  Primary function will be to sort and package shirts to be distributed to each team’s coach in the various age-groups.  This job takes 2-3 hours and will be done before the season starts.

PICTURE-DAY COORDINATOR: This job involves contacting the photographer, setting a date, assigning each team in MASA a scheduled picture time, and distributing the pictures to the teams when they are done.  Pictures are only done during the fall season.  This job takes about 6 hours before the fall season starts, one Saturday (the picture day) during the season, and a Saturday morning to deliver the pictures to the age-group coordinators when they are done. 

AWARDS COORDINATOR: This job involves ordering the trophies and medals for the in-house program, and distributing them to the teams when they arrive.  Awards are only done during the spring season.  This job takes about 2 hours during the spring season.

COPYING/CLERICAL: These volunteers will work with the registrars to copy registration forms and deliver them to the schools. Volunteers should be available during school hours. Only a few volunteers are needed for this job. This job takes about 2 hours either in January or in May.

ANNUAL MEETING: Each year MASA has an annual meeting sometime in January. These volunteers will provide drinks, fruit or snacks to the location of the meeting.

BALL BOY/GIRL COORDINATOR: This job involves coordinating MASA soccer teams to be the ball boys/girls at the high school soccer games. You can obtain a list of the U10 and travel teams as well as the high school home soccer game schedule and then assign a team to each of the high school soccer games. Ball boys/girls are only needed during the fall season. This job takes about 2 hours during the fall season.

CONCESSION STAND COORDINATOR: This job involves coordinating the MASA concession stand. Some of the duties of this position will include cleaning and stocking the stand - one big shopping trip at the beginning of the season; supplement items such as hotdogs and rolls throughout the season; coordinate opening and closing of concession stand; and scheduling volunteers to work in the stand. We will also need two volunteers to be assistants to the coordinator – one to represent travel and one to represent in-house. This job takes about 5-10 hours during the fall/spring season.

CONCESSION STAND: This job involves working at the MASA concession stand. Each scheduled time will be for 2 hours.

MORE VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTIONS

With respect to winter training and play, MASA encourages its players to remain active during these months. The time in between the fall and spring seasons is when many players grow and develop their skills. There are a number of options for winter training and play, all of which can prove to be fun and beneficial. Getting training and game play over the winter months helps to continue players' development heading into the spring.
